奖学金和助学金

We want people with the capacity and capability to learn to be able to access higher education, no matter their background or personal circumstances. As the cost of living increases, we understand how important financial support is right now. Our generous scholarships and bursaries are financial awards that do not have to be paid back.

Going to university is an exciting time. It's a milestone of your success and an investment in your future career. There's also a lot to think about, organise and pay for – and we understand that can be daunting, particularly as the cost of living continues to increase in the UK. That’s why each year we offer a wide range of generous scholarships and bursaries to support you while you study.

Through our scholarships, we recognise and reward the academic achievements of our students, or the promise they show in a specific subject area. Some scholarships are linked to courses or philanthropic donors. Through our bursaries we support students from groups underrepresented in higher education, who we identify as being in most financial need.

Some of our scholarships and bursaries are automatically awarded, which means you don’t need to make an application to receive them. This includes our International Scholarship, which is a fee reduction of £1,400 for undergraduate study (2023/24). Some scholarships and bursaries do require an application, which will assess your eligibility. These include our University of Sunderland Scholarships 2023/24 and our University of Sunderland Bursaries 2023/24. Whatever you’re eligible for, the important thing to remember is that this is financial support that does not need to be paid back.
